Do You Know What Dandruff Is?

Dandruff is an irritating scalp condition that causes white flakes to appear in the hair and on the head.

Some dandruff cases are caused by excessive oil, and keeping oil production to a minimum is all that is needed in keeping dandruff under control. The exact cause of dandruff has long been uncertain.

What is dandruff?

A fungus called malassezia fungus is found on our scalp, and its food is the natural oils produced by the hair follicles of our scalp. Dandruff happens when, for some reason or another, the malassezia fungus goes crazy and irritates our scalp, causing the dead skin to shed a lot faster.

Mixed with the natural oils produced by our hair follicles this shedded skin clumps together to produce, what is commonly called dandruff. Dandruff is an embarrassing hair condition, and it can recur despite your best efforts.

As a factor in the cause of dandruff is the natural oils produced by the hair follicles, dandruff can be controlled by shampooing your hair on a regular or even daily basis, as this cleans the build up of natural oils and therefore dandruff itself.

Stubborn Dandruff -If regular shampooing is not effective in controlling your dandruff, try using an anti dandruff shampoo. Change your anti-dandruff shampoo every month to prevent your scalp developing an immunity to the active ingredients.

Washing Tips - When shampooing, for best results always shampoo your hair twice. Dandruff is an embarrassing hair condition, but it is not unmanageable.
